Hi, I’m Brett.

Don't you just love the “about me” page on websites like this. They’re written to be in third person … we all know they are written by the the actual person.

So after "Brett Judd" tried several times to sound even more impressive than he really is, I quickly abandoned that approach and decided to write this page like it was a letter to a friend.

Which is exactly what I intended it to be in the first place.

So – what did you really want to know?

1st - I've crossed the big 5-0. It's great.  
I never thought I would say that at this point, but ... I like it.


I live in the small East Idaho town where I grew up - Pocatello - with my wife Gina.

We have five kids, a lonely sheep ram, a Great Dane named Tibierious and a cockapoo named Wilfred (Brimley).

But ... this might not be what you are looking for, right?

You’re likely thinking,

"Who Is This Guy Really, and Is He Worth My Time?"

For many, the answer is NO.

Here’s why:

1 - I can not help you if you are not willing to do the work.

For some reason, people think that working with a coach or consultant means that they do not have to do anything. It's really just the beginning.

I get it. 

I thought it would be easy to start making money and I’d have thousands coming in every day … when we opened our practice. WOW! That was a shock of reality.

It wasn’t easy money.

One of the best things we did was hire a coach (several actually) … but it took lots of work, frustration, and perseverance to get things moving.

…And it still takes work to keep everything moving today.

So if you’re not prepared to commit to roughly ten times more effort than you’re expecting, I’m not your guy. I'd rather get that right out in the open early.

We will build the systems you need, but I won't be able to all the work.

2 - I can help you make money - but this is not get rich quick.

I do not understand it, but, people equate “gettting a coach” with “get rich quick”.

It would be nice, but it takes time and it takes effort to create a profitable practice - ethically. 

Trying to get rich quick is a waste of time. If you want to waste time go bowling. It’s a lot more fun.

3 - If you’re looking for “The Easy Way”, I don’t want to work with you.

I have had those clients and it never works out well for either of us. 

Please understand what I’m saying to you.

I can help you. The process works.  I just don’t want to work with clients who aren't willing to help themselves. I could, but I would rather help my clients learn how to implement systems and practices that work - without me there - if they wanted to.

You might be asking "Why would you instantly exclude potential clients?"

When I hear someone say, “Do I really have to do that?”, what they are saying is, “I’m not ready to invest in the success and growth of my practice, my staff ... or my patients.”

And that really translates to “I don’t want to do the work”.

Look, running a profitable practice is HARD WORK. But ... when it’s all running, it can be amazing.

But that takes HARD WORK to create and it takes HARD WORK to maintain.

Here’s what I do for my clients.

    I do this for free in our consultation session … which is usually followed by:

  • A direct and blatant offer to work together - or a couple offers.

That's right ... I just told you straight up that I will give you unabashed sales pitches.

And, why not?

Seriously – I’m a “relationship expert”. And, we are both in business to make money. I make money - just like you - by selling my skill and expertise.

I try hard to sell you something and I am not too subtle about it.


All that said – I promise I will always preceded it with really valuable tools and tactics you can swipe and deploy right then.

All of that is always free.

I do this for you because I want you to say, “WHOA, if this is the free stuff, I want the paid stuff.”

So, that's it. That's who I am. 

I learned in my years as a therapist and social worker helping redirect the lives of some pretty broken people and families, that if I gave them what they could use right then, and helped them implement it, they came back and wanted more. 

I don't mean to imply that my clients are broken and dysfunctional

Works every time.

Give people actionable tools that actually take stress away and increase the profitability of their life, they will want more of it.

Remember earlier when I said I had had several coaches?  There were some i just didn't gel with. That is how it is with all clients.  It's better to work with someone that gels with you so that you trust them, and are willing to work on the things they are telling you to do.

Generally at this point on these pages, I am supposed to do the whole "own it" thing and tell you why I'm good and called The Practice Therapist:

I started my “coaching” career in 1991 working one on one with seriously angry youth and their families. That was an eye opener to social reality!

I must have been told off more times that I can ever remember.

It was a good place to "cut my teeth" learning about and changing broken systems. 

As I transitioned into the practice leadership world I have seen that there a lot of broken systems out there, and the same tools that applied before, work wonders.

My young and energetic brain then thought, why don't you step up this desire to make change to a whole new level and create programs for felons - so that is what I did.  As a felony probation officer I created system and programs to create change in the lives of some seriously misguided and lost people.  

I taught mindset mastery and personal change in the jail.  I saw hundreds of lives transform by opening themselves to the potential of a life free of the restraint and addictions that they had locked onto.  

One of my "clients", yes that is what we called them, has since gone on to an annual income of nearly $300,000 in a private trucking business and is on track to clear $1.5 mill in the next 5 years.  All because he was able to clear the barriers in his mindset that hindered his personal success - very similar to thousands of would be successful entrepreneurs and practice professionals.

Anyway – it has all worked. Personal and professional change is exactly the same as what it takes to transform broken families and misguided individuals.  You've probably never had any of those on your staff. Didn't think so.

Here's the great part - I have discovered that the same principles of change that have transformed lives in the therapeutic setting, are exactly the same tools and knowledge needed to transform practices into thriving and profitable businesses

Think about it, the same underlying social and emotional barriers, the same system dynamics, and the same core needs are the same whether we are discussing business systems, or family systems.  People are people. When there are people issues, who better than a people and relationships expert?

Spring forward to today. I have clients and practices I've assisted all over the country, and one that just moved to the states from Canada. I get to be on the advisory board for one of the top dental masterminds in the country.

I’m their “go to guy” for practice related issues in relationships and emotional stress.
